Embedded Youtube videos in Schoology portfolios do not display
Youtube videos embedded in Schoology portfolios are not currently working and users receive the error message as shown in the screenshot below.
Unfortunately this is a known issue with Schoology.
Per Schoology support:
"What you're experiencing is a known issue with Schoology portfolios. Currently, embedded content such as YouTube videos (via iframe) is restricted on portfolio pages due to built-in security measures.
This explains why the video displays correctly in preview mode, which runs in a less restricted environment, and students see the message "This content can't be shown here for security reasons", as their view enforces stricter security controls that block iframe content.
Our engineering team is aware of the issue and is working toward a resolution. At this time, however, there is no ETA on when the fix is scheduled for release.
Workaround:
Instead of embedding the YouTube video, we recommend adding it as a direct link (URL) within the portfolio page. This allows students to access the video without encountering the security restriction.
Additionally, some external content may be limited by browser security settings. If needed, students can open the content in a new browser tab for full access.
